DeepBook on Sui Wallet Desktop

DeepBook is the Sui blockchain's native central limit order book (CLOB) — an on-chain order book primitive that powers DEXes built on Sui. Sui Wallet Desktop provides first-class DeepBook integration, letting you trade directly from your wallet with full transparency on order book depth and execution.

What is DeepBook on Sui

DeepBook is a native Sui infrastructure primitive built and maintained by Mysten Labs. Unlike most DeFi protocols, DeepBook isn't a single application — it's a base liquidity layer that other applications build on top of. Sui DEXes, aggregators, and trading interfaces use DeepBook as their underlying order book.

The result: DeepBook concentrates Sui DEX liquidity in one place. Trading through DeepBook accesses the deepest order book on Sui.

What is DeepBook used for

  1. Traders — direct trading via Sui Wallet Desktop or DEX frontends. Limit orders, market orders, full order book visibility.
  2. Liquidity providers / market makers — professional market makers post quotes on DeepBook to earn the bid-ask spread.
  3. DEX builders — applications building Sui DEX UX use DeepBook as their order matching engine.

DeepBook order types — central limit order book

A central limit order book (CLOB) is the trading model used by traditional exchanges and major centralized crypto exchanges. Two key features:

  • Limit orders — post an order at a specific price; it executes when the market reaches your price.
  • Market orders — buy or sell immediately at the best available price.
  • Order book transparency — see the full depth of bids and asks at every price level.

This contrasts with automated market makers (AMMs) like Cetus or Uniswap, where prices are set by a mathematical formula based on pool reserves rather than by user-posted orders. Sui Wallet Desktop's DeepBook integration supports both order types.

How to use DeepBook on Sui

  1. Open the DeepBook tab in the wallet sidebar.
  2. Select a trading pair — SUI/USDC, SUI/USDT, and other major Sui tokens are supported.
  3. Choose order type — limit (specify price) or market (execute now at best price).
  4. Enter quantity and price — the wallet shows expected fill, fees, and order book impact before you confirm.
  5. Confirm the order — the transaction signs locally (or via Ledger if paired) and submits on-chain.
  6. Track fills — open orders show in the Orders panel; filled trades show in your transaction history.

DEEP token

DEEP is the native token of the DeepBook protocol. It's used for fee discounts, governance, and protocol incentives. You don't need DEEP to trade on DeepBook — fees can be paid in trade assets — but holding DEEP can reduce your trading fees. DEEP is itself tradeable on DeepBook.

DeepBook TVL and DeFi integrations

DeepBook has significant TVL on Sui and serves as the underlying liquidity for multiple Sui DEX frontends and aggregators. As Sui DeFi grows, DeepBook's role as a base layer grows with it.
