Stake SUI on Sui Wallet Desktop

Earn the current network APY directly from your desktop wallet. Native and liquid staking, validator choice, and Ledger hardware signing — all in one place. Rewards land every epoch (~24h) and auto-compound.

Current SUI staking APY

~2.6% Stable

Network APY · approximately 100 active validators · one-epoch (~24h) unbond. No slashing for delegators.

Why stake SUI

Idle SUI vs SUI that earns

Staking is how the Sui blockchain stays secure — and how holders earn the network's native yield without giving up custody.

No slashing

Principal stays safe

Sui has no slashing penalty for delegators. Your staked SUI is not at risk from validator misbehavior — only the rewards depend on uptime.

Auto-compound

Rewards every epoch

Staking rewards distribute each epoch (~24h) and compound automatically into your staked balance. No manual claim step.

One-epoch unbond

Predictable liquidity

Unstaking takes one epoch. The only liquidity cost of native staking — and liquid staking via Haedal removes even that.

Mechanism

How SUI staking works

Sui uses delegated proof-of-stake (DPoS). Roughly 100 validators are selected each epoch by total stake; each epoch lasts about 24 hours.

  • Your SUI joins that validator's stake pool
  • You earn a share of rewards proportional to your delegation
  • Validator commission (typically 5–10%) is deducted first
  • Rewards distribute and compound each epoch automatically
  • Principal is never at risk — Sui has no delegator slashing
  • Liquid staking via Haedal removes the unbond wait entirely

Custody choices

Where you stake from matters

Recommended for size

Stake from Ledger

Pair your Ledger Nano S Plus, Nano X, Stax, or Flex with Sui Wallet Desktop and stake from cold storage. The signing key never leaves the device — every staking transaction is approved on-screen. Walkthrough at /ledger and /learn/sui-ledger-setup.

Custodial

Why not exchanges?

Coinbase, Binance, and Kraken offer SUI staking but you give up self-custody, accept extra commission, and have no validator choice.

Validator selection

Choose two or three mid-sized operators

Roughly 100 active validators. Weigh APY, commission (typically 5–10%), voting-power concentration, uptime, and operator identity. Best practice: split across 2–3 mid-sized validators with strong uptime. /learn/sui-validators

Rewards math

Quick estimator

annual ≈ stake × APY

At ~2.6% APY, 1,000 SUI staked yields ~26 SUI/year. Detailed projections at /learn/sui-staking-rewards.
