Purchase guide
How to Buy SUI
Buy SUI tokens on major centralized exchanges including Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, Bitget, and Bybit. KYC requirements vary by jurisdiction. After purchase, transfer SUI to a self-custody wallet like Sui Wallet Desktop for secure long-term storage and to access Sui DeFi, staking, and NFTs.

How to buy SUI in three steps
- Pick an exchange. Coinbase, Binance, Kraken, Bitget, Bybit, OKX — all major exchanges list SUI. Pick one available in your jurisdiction.
- Buy SUI. Deposit USD (or your local currency) and place a buy order. SUI lands in your exchange account.
- Transfer to self-custody (recommended). Move your SUI to a wallet you control — like Sui Wallet Desktop. This protects against exchange-specific risk and lets you use SUI in DeFi, staking, and NFTs.
That's the full flow. Below: details on each step.
How to buy SUI on Coinbase
Coinbase is the most-used exchange in the US for crypto buying. SUI is listed on both the Coinbase main app and Coinbase Advanced.
- Sign up at coinbase.com (KYC required for US/most regions).
- Deposit USD via bank transfer (ACH, free), wire, or debit card.
- Search for SUI. Click Buy.
- Enter the amount in USD. Coinbase shows the SUI you'll receive after fees.
- Confirm the purchase.
Coinbase fees: 1.49% trading fee for the simple Buy interface; lower fees on Coinbase Advanced (0.40–0.60% maker/taker depending on volume tier).
How to buy SUI on Binance
Binance has the deepest global SUI liquidity.
- Sign up at binance.com (KYC required).
- Deposit funds via card (instant, higher fee), bank transfer (cheaper), or P2P.
- Trade USDT for SUI on the SUI/USDT spot market — or buy SUI directly with USD on Binance Convert.
- Confirm the trade.
Binance fees: 0.1% spot trading fee (lower with BNB discount or volume tier).
How to buy SUI on Kraken
Kraken is popular for users who want a regulated US exchange with strong fiat on-ramps.
- Sign up at kraken.com (KYC required).
- Deposit USD via wire transfer or bank transfer.
- Trade USD for SUI on the SUI/USD spot market.
- Confirm.
Kraken fees: 0.16–0.26% maker/taker on Kraken Pro; higher on the standard interface.
Where to buy SUI — exchange comparison
| Exchange | Fees | Fiat on-ramp | Region | Good for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coinbase | 1.49% (Simple) / 0.40–0.60% (Advanced) | USD ACH/wire/card | Global (esp. US) | Beginners; US users |
| Binance | 0.10% spot | USD/EUR/many fiat | Global (limited US) | Highest liquidity; lowest fees |
| Kraken | 0.16–0.26% | USD wire/ACH | Global incl. US | US users wanting Pro features |
| Bitget | 0.10% spot | Card, P2P | Global (limited US) | Asia, P2P traders |
| Bybit | 0.10% spot | Card, P2P | Global (limited US) | Derivatives traders |
| OKX | 0.08–0.10% spot | Card, bank | Global (limited US) | Multichain ecosystem |
| KuCoin | 0.10% spot | Card, P2P | Global (limited US) | Long-tail tokens |
For US users: Coinbase or Kraken are typically easiest given regulatory access. For non-US: Binance has the deepest liquidity. For DeFi-heavy users: any exchange works for the buy; the priority is moving SUI off-exchange after.
Best place to buy SUI
For most users, the best place to buy SUI is the exchange you can easily access in your jurisdiction with the fees that work for your trade size. There's no single "best" — it varies by region and use case.
For a small one-time purchase: convenience matters more than fees. Coinbase Simple Buy or your local fiat-on-ramp option works.
For larger purchases: lower fees matter more. Coinbase Advanced, Binance, or Kraken Pro typically offer 0.10–0.40% fees vs the 1.49% on simple buy interfaces.
Cheapest place to buy SUI
For the lowest fees, use a Pro/Advanced trading interface rather than the simple buy button:
- Binance spot trading: 0.10%
- OKX spot trading: 0.08–0.10%
- Coinbase Advanced: 0.40–0.60%
- Kraken Pro: 0.16–0.26%
Avoid the "instant buy" or "convert" buttons on most exchanges — these often have a 1–2% spread baked in on top of the trading fee.
Buy SUI with credit card
Most major exchanges accept credit/debit cards for SUI purchases:
- Coinbase: card buy available, ~3.99% fee
- Binance: card via third-party providers, ~2–4% fee
- Kraken: card buy available
- Bitget, Bybit, OKX: all accept card via third-party processors
Card buys are the fastest way to get SUI but the most expensive. For larger purchases, bank transfer (ACH/wire) is significantly cheaper.
Buy SUI with USD
Coinbase, Kraken, Binance.US, and Gemini all support direct USD on-ramps for SUI. Use a USD wire transfer or ACH for the lowest fees, then trade USD for SUI on the exchange's spot market.
Buy SUI with PayPal
PayPal does not directly support SUI as of 2026-05-09. To buy SUI with PayPal, use an exchange that accepts PayPal as a deposit method (some support PayPal via third-party processors), or buy crypto via PayPal that does support PayPal-to-crypto (USDC, BTC, ETH) and then trade for SUI on a Sui-supporting exchange.
How to invest in SUI
Investing in SUI typically means:
- Buy and hold — purchase SUI on an exchange and hold it in self-custody (or on the exchange) for medium-to-long term price exposure.
- Stake — earn the network APY on your SUI by delegating to validators. Self-custody staking via Sui Wallet Desktop or custodial staking via Coinbase/Binance/Kraken. See /staking and /learn/how-to-stake-sui.
- Liquid staking — stake SUI via Haedal protocol to earn yield while keeping liquidity for DeFi. See /staking/liquid.
- DeFi yield — provide liquidity on Sui DEXes, lend on Sui lending protocols, etc. Higher risk and complexity than simple staking.

Best exchange for SUI
The best exchange for SUI depends on your priorities:
- Lowest fees: OKX (0.08% spot), Binance (0.10% spot)
- US regulatory ease: Coinbase, Kraken
- Deepest liquidity: Binance
- Card on-ramp: Coinbase, MoonPay-integrated exchanges
- Multichain DeFi ecosystem: OKX
For most users in 2026, Coinbase (US) or Binance (non-US) is the path of least resistance.
Coinbase SUI / Binance SUI / Kraken SUI
All three major exchanges list SUI prominently:
- Coinbase SUI — listed on Coinbase main and Advanced. SUI/USD trading pair. Custodial staking available.
- Binance SUI — deepest SUI liquidity globally. SUI/USDT, SUI/BTC, SUI/USDC, and other pairs. Soft-staking (no lockup) available for SUI.
- Kraken SUI — listed with SUI/USD trading. Staking available.
All three are reputable and reliable for buying SUI.
How to send SUI to wallet — self-custody transfer
After buying SUI on an exchange, the recommended next step is to transfer it to a self-custody wallet. This protects you against exchange-specific risk and unlocks DeFi, staking, and NFT use.
- Open your wallet (Sui Wallet Desktop, Slush, etc.) and copy your Sui address.
- On the exchange, go to Withdraw > SUI.
- Paste your wallet address as the destination.
- Confirm the network is Sui (not BSC, not another chain). Sending SUI on the wrong network is unrecoverable.
- Send a small test amount first (e.g., 1 SUI) if it's your first time withdrawing to this address.
- Verify the test amount arrives in your wallet.
- Send the rest once the test confirms.
SUI withdrawals from major exchanges typically process in 5–15 minutes.
How to transfer SUI from Coinbase to wallet
- In Coinbase, go to your SUI balance.
- Click Send.
- Paste your wallet address (the Sui address from your Sui Wallet Desktop or other wallet).
- Confirm the network is Sui.
- Enter the amount.
- Confirm with 2FA.
- Coinbase processes the withdrawal — typically within minutes after their standard hold period.
How to transfer SUI from Binance to wallet
- In Binance, go to Wallet > Withdraw.
- Select SUI as the asset.
- Paste your wallet address.
- Critical: select the Sui network (not BSC). Wrong network = lost funds.
- Enter the amount.
- Confirm with 2FA / security verification.
- Binance processes within minutes.
Sui exchange landscape
Beyond the major centralized exchanges, SUI is also available on:
- Sui DEXes — DeepBook, Cetus, Turbos. Once you have SUI, you can swap to other Sui assets on-chain.
- DEX aggregators — Jupiter (cross-chain), 1inch (cross-chain), and Sui-native aggregators.
For initial fiat → SUI conversion, centralized exchanges are typically the easiest path.
