Sui was built by Mysten Labs, founded in 2021 by ex-Meta engineers from the Diem and Novi projects. The chain is operated as a public Layer 1 with validators worldwide; Sui validators — active set guide and SUI tokenomics and supply cover the economics behind that operation.
